Congratulations to our architects, E-Project Dungarvan, Co. Waterford.

Conor O’Riain, Head of New Markets and Products, Ecocem presented the Ecocem Green Building Award to Michael Regan and Mary Regan from E-Project Chartered Architects Ltd.

E-Project Chartered Architects wins a National Green Building Awards for 2013 for TVM Headquarters Building, Bartlemy, Co. Cork

Dungarvan based E-Project Chartered Architects won the National Green Building Awards for 2013 for their recently completed Headquarters Building for Television Mobiles Limited in Bartlemy, Co. Cork. The Headquarters Project is one of the First Office Developments in Ireland to fully embrace the design principles of Passive Haus Design.

Now entering its fifth year, the Green Awards aim to celebrate excellence in sustainability and to encourage green best practice amongst Ireland’s organisations and individuals.

EPCA’s Client, TVM, provide Live TV Event Broadcast and Production services nationally and internationally. The completed HeadquartersBuilding provides 1,250sq.m of ‘state of the art’ interconnected Offices, Meeting Rooms, an Editing Studio, Canteen and Engineering Workshop accommodation.

The Project incorporates the Client’s requirement for a strong sustainable design and has been designed by E-Project Chartered Architects to meet stringent Passive insulation and energy Standards. These design and performance principles far exceed the Building Regulation requirements in terms of insulation and energy consumption. The Building provides very high levels of structure insulation, thermal performance, airtightness and internal temperature and ventilation control etc. In addition to the highly insulated construction the building also incorporates an air / air heating system, energy saving lighting system, 220sq.m of Photovoltaic panels – the largest such installation in the Country- solar panels and grey water recycling.

All of these construction and services elements require increased capital costs in comparison to a ‘standard’ OfficeBuilding but will be seen to repay this expenditure within a short period of the life of the Building through significantly reduced energy costs. The photovoltaic installation also provides potential for the building to be a net generator to the National Grid.

The main architectural feature is the american red cedar clad ‘Drum’ element, an elliptical plan form that has been extruded to 2.5 storeys high. The Building is accessed via a contemporary zinc clad glass paneled Entrance Porch and leads to a naturally lit double height Entrance Foyer. Offices and the Edit Suite radiate from the foyer around a daylight lit lightwell.

The Board Room, Offices and Gallery Canteen area have been provided at Level 1, accessed from a sweeping steel and glass feature stair. A ‘secret’ external terrace area has been provided behind the pitched roof with ‘open-shut’ louvred panels providing viewing from the Canteen behind. The Engineering Workshop is clad in an architectural panelling system and provides internal conditions and accommodation for servicing and supporting the large mobile recording studio trucks.

The success of the TVMHeadquartersBuilding’s performance in use will be used by E-Project Chartered Architects to better inform existing and new Clients of the financial, comfort and design benefits of adopting passive principles in small and large scale projects. EPCA Principle and Chartered Architect Michael Regan has commented that ‘’in these times of austerity and ever increasing energy costs EPCA’s ethos for the completion of quality, contemporary buildings with a sustainable approach to material and energy efficiency have come of age. As an accredited Passive Haus Practice we have the necessary expertise to ensure that sustainable or passive design principles can be applied to all projects. The selection of the Project Architect is, to me, the most important decision that all Clients are faced with as the Architect ultimately sets the tone for all other project design decisions’’.

Project details of the TVM Project, and other selected Projects completed by the Practice Principle, Michael Regan, are available for down load from the EPCA Website – www.epca.ie . The Practice is based at 21, Lower Main Street, Dungarvan.

The Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards Programme, in association with Irish Life Corporate Business, recognises indigenous Irish companies across the island of Ireland which are operating at the highest levels of business performance.

Commenting on the award, Bart Arnold, Managing Director, TVM, said: “It’s a great boost for the company, it honours the hard work the entire team have continued to put in over the last number of years. As weekends are our busiest days, the support we all get from home is fantastic and in no small way contributes to the success of the company.”

An independent judging panel, chaired by Liam O’Mahony, measured company performance by looking at a broad range of criteria including strategy, capability, commitment, financials and management performance across all key functions of the business. The Best Managed Companies Awards Programme is the only awards programme that considers a business’ performance from every perspective.

Brendan Jennings, Managing Partner, Deloitte and judging panel member commented: “This year’s winning companies, which now join the growing network of Best Managed Companies, represent the best of innovation, creativity, dynamism, tenacity and excellence in the indigenous sector. Deloitte is proud to celebrate their success and potential. These awards acknowledge their hard work and commitment and we are delighted to showcase their achievements.”

The Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards Programme is open to companies from all 32 counties on the island of Ireland. Details of entry for the 2013/2014 programme will be issued in the coming weeks on www.deloittebestmanaged.ie.

The Best Managed Companies Awards Programme was created to recognise the overall success of a company, including management strength, ability to innovate, strategic initiatives and financial performance – all the elements that contribute to a Best Managed company. The ’Best Managed’ designation is an important marketing tool for the winning companies – but, perhaps most importantly, the award provides a reason to celebrate the efforts of the entire company.

TVM had the privilege of being involved in the most complex 3D set up the UK has ever seen with 19 hours of live, 3D television over three days.

Our latest addition to the fleet – OB8 was involved in the Isle of Wight Festival 2012 for Sky Arts.

OB8’s Mediornet was used in an interesting application where a camera position was shared between 3 OB trucks allowing the camera to be controlled remotely and switched between the 3 trucks.

Here is a snipet of some of the fantastic feedback we received:

“The whole operation was delivered with professionalism both operationally and technically”

“thanks to all your crew for the IOW 2012, they were all amazing throughout the week”
