2013 award for TVM Headquarters Building, Bartlemy, Co. Cork
On 18th April, at a media event in the Burlington Hotel, TVM were awarded a National Green Building Award for their recently completed Headquarters Building in Bartlemy, Co. Cork. TVM’s HQ is one of the First Office Developments in Ireland to fully embrace the design principles of Passive Haus Design.
The building was designed with a large involvement from TVM owners Bart and Helen Arnold with Architect Sabine Witmann and E-Project Chartered Architects based in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford.
When asked if he was happy with the building Bart said “We are delighted with the building. It meets our operational needs and satisfies our green policy and ideologies. After a year in the building, we feel really at home here”.
The Green Awards celebrate excellence in sustainability and to encourage green best practice amongst Ireland’s organisations and individuals.
The winning Headquarters Building provides 1,250sq.m of ‘state of the art’ interconnected Offices, Meeting Rooms, Editing Suite, Canteen, Engineering Workshops and Equipment Stores accommodation for TVM. The building incorporates a strong sustainable design ethos and has been designed by E-Project Chartered Architects to meet stringent Passive insulation and energy Standards.
The Green Awards assess both the design and performance in use of projects and it was recognised that the TVM Headquarters building far exceeds the Building Regulation requirements in terms of insulation and energy consumption. The Building incorporates an air handling system, energy saving lighting system, solar panels and rain water recycling. The fitting of 220sq.m of Photovoltaic panels on the Workshop roof is the largest such installation in the Country and provides the potential for the building to be a net generator to the National Grid. The 32.5 kW power output from the Photovoltaic panels can power the entire office section of the building on a bright day.
